NCAA Basketball Conference Tournaments: Major and Mid-Major
March Madness begins with NCAA basketball conference tournaments. These tournaments are important because it gives bubble teams a chance to make a run and prove they belong in the Big Dance. At the same time a team could lose early diminishing it's hopes for a bid. NCAA basketball conference tournaments also help to determine final seeding and region placement in the field of 65. Finally there is the off chance that a team not even on the tournament committee's radar will break through and win their conference tourney, thereby earning an automatic bid and knocking a bubble team out of the picture. The excitement really does start with the conference tournaments. While I only cover the major and mid-major tournaments on this site, you can be sure I'll be tuning in to the small conference tournies as well. Watching underdog teams punch tickets to the Big Dance is one of my favorite times of the college basketball season, second only to the NCAA tournament itself.

Pac-10 Basketball Tournament - Analysis and history of the men's Pac-10 basketball tournament including how many championships each league member has won since the Pac-10 conference tournament was established in 1987.
SEC Basketball Tournament - Analysis and history of the men's SEC basketball tournament including how many championships each league member has won since the SEC conference tournament was established in 1979.

Colonial Athletic Basketball Tournament - Analysis and history of the men's CAA basketball tournament including how many championships each league member has won since the CAA conference tournament was established in 1983.
