SEC Basketball Tourney: Conference Tournament 1979 thru 2008
The men's SEC basketball tourney has been played since 1979. Here's a breakdown of SEC tournament championships by conference member:
Kentucky has won the SEC basketball tournament 13 times. Alabama has won the SEC conference tournament 5 times followed by Florida with 3 titles, Mississippi State with 2 titles, and Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi, and Tennessee with 1 title each. The 2008 SEC basketball tourney will be played at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta from March 13 through March 16. Florida is the defending SEC basketball tournament champion as they beat Arkansas to win the 2007 SEC tourney which was also played at the Georgia Dome.
