NCAA Tournament Bracket Tips: Focusing on the Final Four

NCAA tournament bracket tips involving the the Final Four stage of the men's tourney show that the Final Four has turned out rather normal over the last seven seasons except for the 2000 and 2006 tournaments. Final Four's are typically comprised of 1, 2, and 3 seeds with number 1 seeds often times grabbing two of the spots.

Number 1 seed: Fifteen Final Fours from 2000 to 2008
Number 2 seed: Eight Final Fours
Number 3 seed: Five Final Fours
Number 4 seed: Two Final Fours
Number 5 seed: Three Final Fours
Number 8 seed: Two Final Fours
Number 11 seed: One Final Four
The 2000 NCAA tournament was a surprise in that two number 8 seeds made the Final Four. That proved to be one of the crazier tournaments in terms of higher seeds advancing through the bracket. The 2006 tourney was also surprising as it was the first time since 1980 that no number 1 seed made the Final Four(due in part to 11th seeded George Mason knocking off number 1 seed UConn in the Elite 8).

Overall, however, you can count on one or two number 1 seeds making it to the Final Four. In fact 1997 and 1999 both saw three number 1 seeds in the Final Four while the 2008 Final Four featured all number 1 seeds.
